The over 24,000 members in Europe, Africa, India and other regions include professional associations, scientific associations, training associations, trade associations, and other organisations from various sectors.
The 28th Associations World Congress & Expo was held from 7 to 9 April 2019 in Gothenburg in Sweden. It is Europe’s best attended convention for association leaders and executives. The participants included national and international organisations as well as more than 100 specialist “suppliers” such as hotels, event locations, agencies, destinations, and convention bureaux.
The Munich Convention Bureau attended the event in Gothenburg along with three booth partners, following on from Vienna and Antwerp in the past two years. This year the Charles Hotel Munich, the Holiday Inn City Centre and the congress organiser Interplan accompanied the Munich Convention Bureau and were represented at two booths at the Associations Solutions Expo.
For years the event has been attracting ever more attention as a major interface between the convention business and associations. It is a truly unique platform for making and intensifying personal contacts with association executives, for exchanging ideas and sharing experiences.
The particular format of the three-day event enabled “suppliers” to join the association representatives at almost all the sessions, lectures, and interactive workshops. Not only did they learn a lot, but they also had the opportunity to get to know potential customers much better. And during the coffee and lunch breaks the participants met at the booths in the exhibition area – perhaps the beginning of promising business relationships.
