At the end of March, more than 160 athletes demonstrated breathtaking maneuvers and choreographies in four different disciplines at the second German Indoor Skydiving Championship in the Jochen Schweizer Arena.
You don’t have to go skydiving out of an aeroplane if you want to know what it feels like to float in mid-air. At least not if you’re in Munich. Instead, you can go bodyflying in the 15-metre high high-tech wind tunnel of the Jochen Schweizer Arena in Taufkirchen on the outskirts of Munich. Fitted out with purpose-made suits the bodyflyers, professionally guided by flying instructors, take off for an exciting flying experience in the air stream directed upwards at a speed of up to 285 kilometres per hour.
This new sport, a.k.a. indoor skydiving, has become so popular that meanwhile professional tournaments are being held. There’s even talk of a new Olympic discipline. In late March, 163 athletes performed breathtaking mid-air manoeuvres and choreographies in four categories at the second German Indoor Skydiving Championship at the Jochen Schweizer Arena in Munich. Air dancer Laurie Lubbe’s acrobatics were particularly mesmerising.

MICE Achievement Award for Jochen Schweizer
In November 2018, Jochen Schweizer himself was awarded the MICE Achievement Award at the mbt Meetingplace, the trade fair for business travel, conference and event planners, at the Postpalast in Munich. This lifetime achievement award honours outstanding services to the MICE industry, rendered in either a professional or voluntary capacity. The mbt Meetingplace committee highlighted the company’s leadership on the event and experience market, and praised the exceptional event concept of the “Vertical Catwalk” as well as the Jochen Schweizer Arena, a premium experience and event destination.
