In mid-February 2019, the Hyatt Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor opened its doors as the first of the Hyatt lifestyle brand in Germany. Situated in the new city district on Leopoldstraße in Schwabing, the luxury lifestyle hotel has 234 rooms and 43 suites, including a Penthouse Suite and two Tower View Suites.
That Munich was chosen as the new Andaz site can well be taken as a compliment to the metropolis on the Isar river: "We choose locations that can best embody the Andaz brand. Only cities with a focus on art, culture, cuisine and fashion are even considered. Munich for us is Germany's most dynamic city," explained Peter Fulton, Group President of Hyatt for the regions of Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Southwest Asia.
A Golden Pretzel
Immerse yourself in the creative urban life of attractive city districts and let yourself be inspired, that is the declared aim of the young Andaz brand so succinctly expressed in the slogan of "Arrive a visitor, depart a local". The interior, too, is designed – by 'concrete' of Amsterdam – to reflect the spirit of the city. Munich is themed, for instance, in the choice of materials: In the conference space a green wall of plants evokes the nearby English Garden, and the enormous "Golden Pretzel", a place to sit in the foyer, will most certainly be featured on countless social media posts. In the Andaz Lounge guests are greeted by white-blue Bavarian skies in the form of a video installation by Munich artist Yves Peitzner. The rooms feature works of Munich art director and typographer Mirko Borsche.
Exclusive Event Locations
In addition to the plus in luxury rooms, the new 2,000m² event space should catch the attention of event planners. Seven studios flooded with daylight are available for meetings, conferences and events, complemented by two "private kitchens", a 200m² exhibition space and a 500m² ballroom.
Relax with a view
The Spa at the Andaz extends an enticing invitation to relax to hotel guests and members and day spa guests alike. The overwhelming attraction of the pool area and sundeck on the roof terrace is the view over the roofs of Munich. A gym with modern equipment and in collaboration with the R1 Sports Club is open around the clock.
Culinary Delights from Munich and Environs
Regionality and sustainability are the dynamics behind the culinary meeting points of the Andaz: The hotel restaurant The Lonely Broccoli follows the philosophies of sustainability, the rooftop bar “M’Uniqo” with a view to the Alps offers numerous specialities including a selection of rare vermouths; “Bicicletta” is a coffee shop in which guests can also hire Andaz Edition bicycles; and Café M is a self-service deli.
