In keeping with the motto "Wir halten zamm", BMW Welt and Radio Gong 96.3 jointly supported local artists at the beginning of March 2021 as part of a livestream concert, which was broadcast live via video livestream on the social media channels of BMW Welt, on the website of Radio Gong and in excerpts live on the radio.
On Saturday, 6th March, BMW Welt organised "The Night of Munich Artists" in cooperation with Gong 96.3 virtually from 8.30 pm. In keeping with the motto "Wir halten zamm" (“We stick together”), BMW Welt and Radio Gong 96.3 jointly supported local artists in a livestream concert, which was broadcast live via video livestream on the social media channels of BMW Welt, on the website of Radio Gong and in excerpts live on Gong 96.3.
The artists performing included the synth-pop band Cosby, the indie-folk band Impala Ray and the indie-rock band King Pigeon. Nathalie Diehl, known from the Gong 96.3 Mike Thiel Show, was the presenter.
The radio station Radio Gong 96.3 had called for the action in advance in its morning show, whereupon BMW Welt took the initiative and put the idea of the livestream concert into practice. In addition to providing the location, the BMW Welt event team took care of the complete implementation of the concert - from the technology to the staging to the transmission of the livestream. Furthermore, the payment of the artists' fees was also taken care of by BMW Welt. Access to the live team was, of course, free of charge.
"In the current times, we want to set an example for the cultural industry and make a contribution to support it," says Helmut Käs, Director of BMW Welt. "The response to our call was huge. More than 100 artists from Munich and the region registered," Gong 96.3 Managing Director Johannes Ott is pleased to say. The local musicians were selected by lot from among the applications to take part in the concert.
