The 118th International Trade Fair for Interior, Inspiration and Lifestyle, TrendSet, was held at the Messe München exhibition center from January 8 to 10, 2022. Due to the pandemic situation, it was one of the first trade fairs in early 2022. Until the very end, the TrendSet event team, the KVR of the City of Munich, and Messe München were in continuous coordination regarding the volatile situation and developed a comprehensive hygiene concept, which in the end was rewarded with successful and highly praised trade fair days.
1,500 exhibitors and more than 13,000 trade visitors, mainly from the DACH region and Italy, met on 70,000 square meters at the beginning of January to inform themselves about trends and new goods and order them for the coming season. TrendSet created 15 Interior & Lifestyle Fair Areas and provided a platform for the international interior and lifestyle industry. TrendSet Winter 2022 was the first chance to fill the empty warehouses with new goods after the Christmas business.
Tatjana Pannier, Managing Director of TrendSet, outlines the responsibility of a trade fair in these times quite clearly from her point of view: "It would have been easy for us to cancel TrendSet Winter 2022, too. But that was never up for debate for us. From the beginning, we planned the TrendSet Winter 2022 as it would take place no matter what. Right up to the last minute, we were in close contact with the relevant authorities together with Messe München. By joining forces, we managed to give the industry an order platform with a functioning hygiene concept on time in January despite difficult general conditions (...)", Tatjana Pannier, Managing Director of TrendSet, summarizes the organization of the trade fair in challenging times with gratitude and confidence.
Messe München's comprehensive hygiene concept included 2G+ control and a contactless entry system. Visitors and exhibitors could also be tested on-site at the in-house test center.

The hygiene concept was flexible and could be adapted to changing conditions on short notice. In this way, safety, reliability, and plannability could be guaranteed. In addition, the FFP2-mask requirement and a minimum distance of 1.5 meters were applied. Ventilation systems were operated with the highest possible percentage of outside air and the lowest possible percentage of recirculated air. This maximization of the air exchange rate ensured the highest possible fresh air content. In addition, CO2 sensors controlled the recirculated air proportion wherever possible.
As a pilot trade fair in Munich, TrendSet has once again demonstrated that trade fairs can be held successfully and safely even under conditions that continue to be difficult due to the pandemic.
Outlook: TrendSet Summer 2022 is scheduled to take place at the Messe München exhibition center from July 9 to 11, 2022.
