From 28 to 31 August 2026, Munich's heart will once again beat for cardiology. Around 30,000 international heart specialists are expected to attend the congress of the renowned European Society of Cardiology (ESC).
Munich will be hosting the world's most important scientific gathering for cardiologists for the fifth time – the last one was in 2018.
Clemens Baumgärtner, Head of the Department of Labour and Economic Development: “The ESC-Congress will return to Munich in 2026. Together with Messe München and our partners from the hotel and congress industry, we successfully convinced the organisers to choose Munich as a MICE destination once more. It is a gratifying affirmation of our efforts that the organisers are placing their trust in our city again. A major congress like the ESC also holds economic significance.”
Guests will be greeted with special ESC branding right at the airport. During the congress, flags in the city centre and on the trade fairgrounds will welcome participants and also draw the attention of Munich residents to this significant event.
The ESC Congress is hosted in a different city each year, providing scientists and physicians with a platform to present the latest trends and developments in experimental and clinical cardiology.
“Four ESC Congresses have taken place in Munich over the last two decades. Each time, we have innovated to give each congress its own special touch, while guaranteeing the best possible experience for our delegates. Very efficient ground transportation, a state-of-the-art venue with Messe München & ICM, and a great level of professionalism from the local teams is integral to that experience. We’re delighted to be coming back to Munich,“ emphasizes Nata Nambatingué, Congress & Event Director, European Society of Cardiology.
