An exciting new cultural venue opened in Munich's Aubing district in 2024: The Bergson invites you to concerts, parties and gastronomy on around 20,000 square metres. Germany's largest gallery space is also located on the site.
Munich is growing – and with it the city's cultural and artistic offerings. In the westernmost district of Aubing, a huge area opened in spring 2024 that not only surprises with its dimensions, but also with its diverse offering: the Bergson. Many years of renovation work have gone into this cultural centre, which is located in a listed industrial ruin from the 1920s. The 25 metre high atrium is spectacular, where you can party, dance and listen to concerts.
The programme includes a wide range of events from high culture to subculture: exhibitions, classical concerts, piano recitals, but also parties, plays for families and moderated discussions on contemporary political topics. Special attention is paid to the locality of the artists and musicians booked: Around 100 locals are among the “Bergson Artists“ who are regularly involved – including, for example, the Jazzrausch Bigband.
Another cultural highlight is definitely the König Bergson Gallery, which will move into a total of three exhibition spaces in the Kunstkraftwerk. The space in the silos has already been opened, but the atrium and a gallery space in the new building next door will be added. In future, exhibitions will be on display on a total of around 2000 square metres – making the gallery space for contemporary art one of the largest in the whole of Germany. The gallery in the silos of the Bergson Kunstkraftwerk is open daily from 11 am to 7 pm and admission is free.
You certainly won't get bored on the premises, as Bergson will also be offering its own academy with lectures and discussion rounds from June 2024. The Anima day bar and the Zeitlang restaurant, which promises casual fine dining, will provide refreshments in between. From summer 2024, visitors will also be able to make themselves comfortable in the cosy beer garden.
