The world's first and largest design museum shows milestones in product and industrial design from the Bauhaus to the present day.
The Neue Sammlung (New Collection), founded in 1925, paved the way for industrially manufactured everyday objects to enjoy museum status and be the subject of scientific research."The Neue Sammlung – The Design Museum" has been residing in the Pinakothek der Moderne since 2002 with a collection of around 80,000 objects from the fields of industrial design, applied art and graphic design.
On display are objects as diverse as motorcycles, cars, chairs, tables, lamps, running shoes, computers and mobile phones. In the Paternoster Hall of the collection, famous designers present their work for one year. Contemporary jewellery designers are represented with their works in the Danner Rotunda.
