The partners of the City of Munich have taken advantage of the somewhat "quieter" time and dedicated themselves to innovative projects that will make Munich shine as an even more attractive MICE location.
In Terminal 2 of Munich Airport, passengers have been using the "contactless" option at selected checkpoints since the end of 2020: Star Alliance Biometrics, the contactless passenger identification system of the Lufthansa Group and the aviation alliance Star Alliance, will from now on be available to all registered members of the frequent flyer program Miles & More.
With the help of biometric identification technology, passengers can pass through the security checkpoints and boarding gates G28 and G30 without having to show their boarding pass. All it takes is a quick glance at a camera for the system to identify the passenger via facial recognition.
The mask required in the terminal does not have to be removed for biometric identification. In view of the current situation, biometric passenger identification also makes a further contribution to health protection thanks to the contactless procedure.

Would you like a sightseeing tour via live stream through Munich with a Munich original? The Munich event agency benninger.eberle offers exactly that: Various locations and interesting places are approached to present live music, artists, craftsmen or even Munich attractions, such as the BMW World or the Eisbach surfers. Interaction with the participants is generated by gamification elements such as an online quiz.
If the questions are answered correctly, "hidden" online rooms with additional content are unlocked. The virtual sight-seeing tour can be accompanied by a discovery box that is sent to the participants in advance. At various points during the tour, participants are asked to take certain objects out of the box and use them in the appropriate context. From classic to super-modern, a lot is possible here. From smelling samples (for example, the fresh leather of lederhosen, roasted almonds from the Oktoberfest, Munich espresso) to tasting food and drinks, something to feel or a souvenir.

In March 2021, BMW Welt organized "The Night of Munich Artists" in cooperation with Gong 96.3. In keeping with the motto "Wir halten zamm", BMW Welt and Radio Gong 96.3 thus jointly supported local artists* as part of a livestream concert, which was broadcast live via video livestream on the social media channels of BMW Welt, on the website of Radio Gong and in excerpts live on Gong 96.3.
Performing artists* included synth-pop band Cosby, indie-folk band Impala Ray and indie-rock band King Pigeon. Radio Gong 96.3 had called for the event in advance in its morning show, whereupon BMW Welt took the initiative and put the idea of the livestream concert into practice.
In addition to providing the location, the BMW Welt event team took care of the complete implementation of the concert - from the technology and staging to the transmission of the livestream. Furthermore, the payment of the artists' fees was also taken over by BMW Welt. Of course, access to the live stream was free of charge.

The MUCA is expanding its space at the site of the museum's main building in Hotterstrasse to include the adjacent high bunker, whose history dates to 1941. The former air-raid shelter from the Second World War became a bunker hotel, later a hip nightclub, and is now transformed into the MUCA (art) bunker. The MUCA restages this characteristic building and brings it back to life with the help of modern installations and elaborate murals. The opening is planned for summer 2021.
At the same time, MUCA is planning to open Munich's largest interim use, continuing the success story of the art lab. MUCA has taken over the former health care building at Dachauer Strasse 90 to develop it into a center for art and culture. The six-story building once served as the headquarters of the health department before the city of Munich put the property up for interim use. The MUCA regularly organizes after-work tours, themed tours but also private tours, which are coordinated in advance. Especially in the context of incentive programs, interactive workshops or live-paintings including meet & greet with the artist are offered.
The Mural has become a gastronomic hotspot and is very popular among trendsetters. The fine-dining concept in the evening impresses with sophisticated menus with a regional-creative focus, awarded with a Michelin star and 15 Gault & Millau points. The restaurant can also be booked for exclusive events.
