Campsites in Munich

 

Campingplatz Obermenzing

The campsite is located near the Langwieder See lake in the Obermenzing district in the north-west of Munich. The campsite has sanitary facilities, cooking facilities and washing facilities. There are also washing machines, tumble dryers, a self-service shop, a lounge with TV and a children's playground.

Location: Lochhausener Str. 59, 81247 Munich, end of the A8 motorway (Stuttgart - Munich)

Capacity: approx. 150 parking spaces

Public transport to the city centre: Take bus 164 to Untermenzing, then change to the S2 towards the city centre.

Campingplatz Thalkirchen

The Thalkirchen campsite is located in the middle of the nature reserve of the southern Isar floodplains with the Hellabrunn Zoo and the Maria Einsiedel outdoor pool in the immediate vicinity. The campsite has around 300 tent pitches and approx. 300 caravan and motorhome pitches. There are sanitary facilities, sinks for crockery and cooking facilities. There are also washing machines, tumble dryers, a self-service shop, a recreation room and a playground for the little ones.

Location: Zentralländstraße 49, 81379 Munich

Public transport to the city centre: Take bus 135 to Thalkirchen (Tierpark), then change to the U3 towards the city centre.

Campingplatz Nord-West

The campsite is beautifully nestled between several bathing lakes in the north-west of Munich. There is a bread roll service and a camping parlour where you can get to know the other campers over a cosy beer. The Olympiapark (Olympic Park), BMW Welt and the BMW Museum can be reached by bike in about 15 minutes. The campsite has sanitary facilities, cooking and washing-up facilities as well as washing machines and tumble dryers.

Capacity: approx. 85 parking spaces

Public transport to the city centre: Take bus 175 to Fasanerie, then change to the S1 to Marienplatz. Journey time to Marienplatz approx. 45 minutes.

The Tent

Close to the Botanical Gardens in Munich is the campsite and summer hostel "The Tent", which only offers tent accommodation. Rentents can also be hired on site if you don't have a tent with you. There is a group kitchen with fridge, bike hire, washing machines, tumble dryers and free hot showers. There is also a cafeteria with a beer garden. Unfortunately, electricity is not available, but mobile phones can be charged at reception.

Public transport to the city centre: from the Botanischer Garten stop (approx. 400m away) take tram 17 to the main station. Journey time approx. 20 minutes

Campsites in the Munich area

 

Camping Ampersee

The campsite is located on the lakeshore in Olching, approx. 40 km north-west of Munich. The pitches are parcelled out by small hedges. There are sanitary facilities, washing-up and laundry facilities, a washing machine and tumble dryer as well as a playground for the little ones and a dog beach. Drinks and milk are available daily from the office. A bread roll service is also offered in the high season.

Location: Josef-Kistler-Weg 5, 82140 Olching / Geiselbullach, A8 motorway exit "Fürstenfeldbruck/Olching"

Public transport to Munich: Bus (300m away) to Olching S-Bahn station (approx. 3.5km away), S3 direction city centre. Journey time to Marienplatz approx. 25 minutes.

Campingplatz am Pilsensee

 

The campsite is located approx. 40 km south-west of Munich in the Starnberger Fünf-Seen-Land directly on the Pilsensee. The Seefeld-Hechendorf S-Bahn station is only approx. 1.5 km from the campsite. The restaurant, shop and bathing kiosk are open from around April to October. In the low season there is a bread roll service. Opposite the campsite is Seefeld Castle with its historic Bräustüberl, which is open all year round.

Location: Am Pilsensee 2, 82229 Seefeld, A96 motorway exit "Wörthsee" or A95 motorway exit "Starnberg".

Public transport to Munich: S8 direction city centre. Journey time to Marienplatz approx. 50 minutes.

Camping beim Fischer

 

The family-run Camping beim Fischer is located at the south-east end of Starnberger See (lake). The campsite has its own bathing beach, a surf school with board hire and a canoe centre. The children's playground with cable car, playhouse and carousel is a real paradise for children. There is also a football pitch. There is also a modern solar-heated sanitary building, a dishwashing room, washing machines and tumble dryers.

Public transport to Munich: from Seeshaupt railway station (approx. 4.5 km away) take the train to Munich main station. Journey time approx. 50 minutes.

Camping Brugger am Riegsee

Experience camping in and with nature at Lake Riegsee near Murnau in the Blue Land. The campsite is located approx. 65 km south of Munich and offers a sanitary area, a scullery, parcelled pitches with fresh and waste water, a restaurant and a kiosk with an outdoor area directly on the lake.

Campingplatz Landsberg am Lech

 

The Landsberg am Lech campsite is open all year round and is located on the edge of a forest just outside the beautiful town of Landsberg with its wonderful old town.

Capacity: approx. 500 pitches (250 for permanent campers), tent meadow for up to 500 tents

Campingplatz Utting am Ammersee

The Utting am Ammersee (lake) campsite is located approx. 50 km south-west of Munich between Schondorf and Dießen. The campsite is the ideal starting point for those seeking relaxation and water sports enthusiasts as well as hikers and mountain bikers.

Public transport to Munich: from Utting railway station (approx. 1.3 km away) take the train to Munich main station. Journey time approx. 1 hour.

Freizeit-Camping Lain am See

 

The Lain am See campsite is located approx. 60 km north-east of Munich in the middle of the Isental valley and the Chiemsee foothills of the Alps. The pitches are all equipped with water and electricity connections. While the children let off steam in the playground, parents can relax in the wellness area. No-one will go hungry either, as there is a kiosk and a corner shop.

Public transport to Munich: from Vilsbiburg railway station (approx. 20 km away) take the train to Munich main station. Journey time approx. 1.5 hours.

Additional campsites for the Oktoberfest

In addition to the above-mentioned campsites in and around Munich, the following campsites are also available during the Oktoberfest.

 

Wies'n Camp

The Wies's Camp is only open during the Oktoberfest. You can arrive with a camper van or your own tent, but there are also pitched tents, pop-up cabins, Wiesn lofts and cosy alpine huts to rent. The camp offers modern sanitary facilities, a souvenir and traditional costume shop for the right outfit for the Oktoberfest, as well as an ATM, lockers and Wi-Fi.

Public transport to the Oktoberfest: from the Riem S-Bahn stop (approx. 1 km away) take the S2 to the city centre to Hackerbrücke or change at Ostbahnhof to the U5 to Theresienwiese

Oktoberfest-Camping Riem

Oktoberfest-Camping is Munich's largest campsite for motorhomes during the Oktoberfest. On site there are equipped sanitary facilities, a small supermarket, a souvenir shop, a restaurant and a bistro.

Location: Messe München, De-Gasperi-Bogen, entrance gate 9, 81829 Munich, A94 motorway exit "Feldkirchen-West"

Capacity: 1,500 motorhome pitches (800 of which have electricity directly on site)

Public transport to the Oktoberfest: Take the U2/U7 from Messestadt Ost to Hauptbahnhof, then change to the U4/U5 to Theresienwiese or Schwanthalerhöhe. Journey time to Oktoberfest approx. 20 minutes.
